Half The Nature Strip: Before & After

Even though we don't have a garden to look after, it's still a mess. Or at least was - it's still not perfect, but it looks a lot better since we moved in. We hadn't done anything to the nature strip outside until neighbour Paul dropped a subtle hint.

He pulled out some weeds. It's a right mess isn't it? Mr C is the gardener in the family, but one sunny Wednesday with no kinder runs to do, the little man and I went out and tackled it.

As you can see I took no mercy. Do you like the dead trees? I was eager to rip them out by the roots but it's not my house, so not my call. Actually one is only half dead.  You can see  some greenery in the before pic, but other than that those branches are just snapping off.

Speaking of trees and gardens, we have had some heavy rains here a few weeks and we lost 2 big trees out the back. Literally being uprooted from the force.

This one has already been cut down as it was leaning on the fence to Paul's place and resting on his shed. With the weight of these 2 trees leaning like this, it also means other plants and bushes have suffered as a consequence.

I emailed the pictures to the agency today so am expecting a call from them in the next day or 2 to arrange for someone to come around and sort it all out.

Seems a shame though doesn't it? This bottom tree was actually one of the better ones in the garden.

I also haven't done anything to the Jacaranda tree - yet. I was thinking instead of chopping the overhanging branches, which would be taking half the tree down, I'd just cut the flowers down.

  1. It's amazing what a bit of weeding can do isn't it? I find they grow back so quickly in the wet weather though.. We have resorted to ripping everything up and putting down a weed mat and starting again. I'm sure the owners would be pleased that you are keeping the place tidy.
